คำถามที่ว่า ทำไมหัวพิมพ์ตัน อาจจะดูเป็นคำถามสั้นๆแต่อาการนี้เกิดได้จากหลายสาเหตุด้วยกันครับ ผมจะอธิบายเป็นข้อเพื่อจะได้ง่ายต่อการอ่านและทำความเข้าใจ
1.หมึกที่ใช้หมึกไม่มีคุณภาพ ในกรณีที่ใช้หมึกเทียบเท่าหรือหมึกเติมที่มีคุณภาพต่ำก็จะเป็นปัจจัยหลักที่ทำให้หัวพิมพ์ตัน สเพราะหมึกในปัจจุบันมีให้เลือกหลายยี่ห้อและหลายราคา หมึกที่ด้อยคุณภาพจะทำให้เกิดปัญหาในระยะยาวครับและทำให้สิ้นเปลืองมากกว่าปกติ เช่น หากหมึกมีคุณภาพต่ำก็จะทำให้พิมพ์ออกไม่ครบต้องสั่งล้างหัวพิมพ์บ่อยทำให้เสียหมึกไปจำนวนหนึ่ง
2.เกิดจากการไม่ใช้งานเป็นเวลานาน เนื่องจากเครื่องพิมพ์ Ink Jet ที่ใช้หมึกเป็นแบบน้ำเมื่อไม่ได้ใช้งานเป็นเวลานานก็อาจจะทำให้หมึกแห้งทำให้หัวพิมพ์ตันได้ถึงแม้จะใช้ตลับแท้ก็ตาม แต่เนื่องจากหมึกแท้มีคุณภาพสูงจึงใช้เวลานานกว่าหมึกเทียบเท่ากว่าจะตัน ส่วนเวลาในการตันก็จะแตกต่างกันไปตามคุณภาพของหมึกที่ใช้งานและอุปกรณ์ต่างๆเช่น ชุดปั๊มทำความสะอาด
3.เกิดจากตัวผู้ใช้งาน ใช้งานเครื่องพิมพ์ผิดวิธี เช่น ไม่ปิดเครื่องพิมพ์ก่อนปิดสวิทช์ไฟก็จะทำให้หัวพิมพ์แห้งไว้ขึ้นเพราะหัวพิมพ์อาจจะไม่ได้ถูกเก็บไว้ในชุดปั๊มทำให้โดนอากาศน้อยลงทำให้หัวพิมพ์ตันช้าลง
4.เกิดจากระบบทำความสะอาดหัวพิมพ์เสื่อมสภาพตามการใช้งาน ทำให้ทำความสะอาดหัวพิมพ์ไม่เต็มประสิทธิภาพจึงทำให้หัวพิมพ์ตันไวกว่าปกติ
5.เกิดจากสภาพแวดล้อมที่วางเครื่องพิมพ์ อาจจะเย็นหรือร้อนเกินไปก็จะทำให้หัวพิมพ์มีปัญหาได้ไวขึ้น
6.เกิดจากกระดาษที่ใช้พิมพ์ ไม่เรียบทำให้บางส่วนของกระดาษไปถูกกับหัวพิมพ์ทำให้คราบหมึกไปติดกับหัวพิมพ์ทำให้นานๆไปหัวพิมพ์ก็จะเริ่มตัน
